Ms. Anna West

Meet our Principal

Ms. Anna West completed her bachelor’s degree with a triple major in education, English and drama from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tenn.  She will be completing her master’s degree in educational leadership in December of 2013. Ever since she was a child, Ms. West enjoyed education, whether it was making up homework assignments for her friends at “summer school” in the backyard of her childhood home, or talking with the teachers at her school, she has always loved learning.

After graduation Ms. West taught high schools English for 10 years before she took a few years off to raise her 4 children. When she returned to the world of education, she found Life Skills (which existed prior to CHA) and has been here ever since. Shortly after her arrival, she fell in love with our students and seeing their need for education, guidance and encouragement, she wanted to make a difference. Her goal is always to help the student overcome their own attitudes about life, as many of our students start off not recognizing the potential they have.

Ms. West was born and raised in West Virginia, the fifth of seven children. She has been married for over thirty years and has four children and lots of mama pride: of her three daughters, one is a lawyer, 2 are teachers, and her youngest – the only boy – is in the navy.  She and her husband love the outdoors, kayaking, and biking. Ms. West also loves to read mystery novels and admits that British mysteries are her favorites.

Holocaust Museum Field Trip

To supplement content learned in US History B and World History B, Covenant House students from the Central and Southwest campuses took a field trip to the Holocaust Musuem and Memorial Center in Farmington Hills. A Holocaust expert gave the group a guided tour and explained the history of the Holocaust and elements of Jewish culture and religion. Students also had the opportunity to discuss big-picture implications such as how history affects the world today and how we can prevent a tragedy like the Holocaust from happening again.
